PTO Program Descriptions


Responsible for distributing information to VPE parents, developing (or continuing a contest between classes) for the collections of General Mills Box Tops. Also, responsible for the collection and submission of Box Tops for PTO fundraiser to purchase items needed for VPE.

Book Fair

Responsible for setting dates, promotional activities, such as family night, operation
of the event and volunteer coordination. Attends a Scholastic Book Fair Workshop and coordinates deliver and pick-up of book fair material.


Responsible for organizing and coordinating volunteers for an all-school activity for our school community to come together to have fun and increase camaraderie within the VPE community. Our kids look forward to this event each year and it does serve as a small fundraiser for the PTO.


Responsible for setting dates, coordinating volunteers, coordinating book selection with teachers and Scholastic (so books may be available at the book fair) and facilitating the Chat & Chew meetings as needed.

Chess Club

Responsible for setting up a once or twice a month chess club for those who want to participate after school.

Chinese Immersion Liaison

Responsible for bringing awareness to the Chinese Immersion Program and maintaining communication between families, schools and the District in all related matters. Coordinates the annual school-wide Chinese New Year Celebration and other culturally significant events. 

Community Service

Implements various community service opportunities for VPE students, parents and staff throughout the school year. Coordinates Presidential Service Award and tracking for the school.


VPE students shake it up for our school. This fall fundraiser, done during the specials class hours during the school day, raises funds for classroom resources, teacher grants, and grade level field trips.

Family Fun Events

These events provide an inexpensive opportunity for family members in our community to interact through various activities, such as Movie Night, Science Night, Sweetheart Dance and a Fun Run.

Field Day

Coordinates the May Field Day with the VPE PE teacher. Field Day volunteers sign up for a shift and assist with field day games and activities.

Fifth Grade Party

Responsible for scheduling and planning the 5th grade party. Coordinates a volunteer staff of several sub-committees.

Restaurant Nights

Communicate and coordinate fundraising restaurant nights throughout the school year. May also involve coordinating Community Service opportunities if applicable.

Room Parents

Coordinates the room parents from each class for class parties and special events. Sends our reminder emails to head room parents prior to parties.

School Pictures

Schedules and coordinates school pictures. Works with photographer and students on picture day and is responsible for the distribution of school pictures.

School Supplies

Organizes the pre-sale of school supplies on the spring and their distribution in August at Meet & Greet.

Skating Parties and Urban Air

Responsible for scheduling the skating and Urban Air party dates, promoting through school media, providing PTO representation and prizes during the skate party.

Spirit Wear

Selects and orders VPE spirit wear in coordination with the PTO Executive board. Coordinates the sale and distribution of school logo clothing throughout the school year.

Square One Art

Work with Art Teacher on coordination, collection and distribution of Square One Art program.

Staff Appreciation

Coordinates the PTO funded staff appreciation lunches and other special events honoring the VPE staff. Members of this committee may also provide assistance with setup and clean- up of these events.

Summer Reading Program

Keep students engaged in reading over the summer! Join the VPE Summer Reading Challenge by keeping track of all the minutes read over the summer!  Students are celebrated in the fall with treats and prizes. 


Responsible for welcoming new VPE families that move in throughout the year.


Responsible for gathering the pictures that are taken throughout the year and formatting them into a book for purchase at the end of the year. Also responsible for advertising, sales and distribution of the final product.
