Why join the PTO?

A lot of exciting changes are happening as we continue to make the Parent Teacher Organization at Valley Park Elementary (VPE PTO) the best it can be! We are thrilled to welcome new families to the VPE community and encourage everyone to get involved in whatever way works best for them.

Research shows that when families are engaged in their children’s education, students are more likely to succeed. Whether through volunteering, attending events, supporting school initiatives, or simply staying connected, every family plays an important role in creating a strong and supportive school community.

What does it mean to be a member?

That’s up to you! Membership in the VPE PTO looks different for every family. Some families choose to stay connected through PTO updates and events, while others take a more active role by volunteering, attending meetings, or helping with school activities. We welcome parents, grandparents, neighbors, siblings, and all members of the VPE community to participate in a way that fits their time, interests, and availability. Being involved does not require a large time commitment—it simply means finding a way to support our students and school community. Every contribution, big or small, makes a difference!

Why should I be a participating member?

Being involved with the PTO provides opportunities to connect with your child's school experience in meaningful ways. Volunteering allows you to see firsthand the environment where your child spends their day, meet teachers and staff, and build relationships with other VPE families.

Attending PTO meetings also gives you a voice. Members help shape PTO activities, provide input on initiatives, and vote on how PTO funds are used to support students and staff.

Whether you are new to VPE or have been part of our community for years, we are here to welcome you, answer questions, and help you feel connected. One of the greatest benefits of being involved is the opportunity to meet amazing people and build lasting friendships.

What are the benefits of membership?

The rewards of PTO membership go beyond what can be measured. Through your participation and support, you help enhance the educational and social experiences of all VPE students.

Your $30 Family Membership includes:

  • The opportunity to vote on PTO programs and initiatives that support our school community
  • Access to our secure online student directory through June 30 of the following year
  • The satisfaction of knowing your support directly benefits VPE students, teachers, and families

Isn't the PTO only about fundraising?

The PTO is more than just fundraising. While fundraising is one way the PTO supports our school, it is only one part of what we do. The VPE PTO partners with teachers, staff, families, and community members to provide resources, programs, and experiences that enrich our students’ education.

Through fundraisers and community events such as the Fall Carnival, Scholastic Book Fair, Restaurant Nights, and Spirit Wear, we are able to provide support for classroom supplies and resources, literacy initiatives, and teacher grants. These events also help to fund student clubs and activities, including Chess Club, Community Service Club, Panther Book Club, First LEGO League, Field Day, and Family Fun programs.

Together, we can make a difference

We are all working toward a common goal: creating a stronger school and a better educational experience for every child at VPE. By working together, we help teachers, administrators, support staff, and students thrive.

There is so much more we can accomplish, but we need your help! We look forward to seeing what our VPE community can achieve when we come together to support our students.

Ready to get involved? We cannot wait to welcome you.
