FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is The Sweetheart Dance?

The Sweetheart Dance is your chance to dance the night away with your special little sweetheart! This event is a student & parent (or other caring adult) dance, open to all VPE students in grades K through 5.

Who can attend?

All VPE students (grades K through 5) are invited to attend along with at least one caring adult. Because we want to make this a special and unique event for you and your student, younger/older siblings who are not enrolled at VPE will not be admitted.

Can I drop off my child at the dance?

No. A parent or other adult MUST remain with their student for the entire the event. This is not a "drop-off" dance.

What is the parking situation?

Event parking will be plentiful and free at the venue.

Will food be served?

Yes! Sandwiches, cookies, and drinks will be served and are all included in the ticket price. Unfortunately, we will not be able to accommodate for any food allergies this year. No alcohol will be served at this event.

What should we wear to the dance?

We want everyone to come dressed to their own comfort level. Want to dress up in a sparkly outfit or a light-up bowtie? Go for it! Prefer to just wear jeans and a t-shirt? That's cool, too! Whatever you wear, just make sure you can move and groove and have fun!

How much are tickets and where do I purchase them?

Tickets for the VPE PTO's 2026 Sweetheart Dance are $20 per person and are available to purchase online the VPE PTO website through Wednesday, February 4th, 2026.

Can I buy tickets at the door?

No, tickets will not be available at the door. Tickets must be purchased online by Wednesday, February 4th, 2026.

What is included in the ticket price?

  • Admission to the dance
  • Music/Entertainment by DJ Miles
  • Food and drinks (no alcohol will be served at this event)
  • Selfie Booth

How much is the Sweetheart Party Pack and what's in it?

Sweetheart Party Packs are available to purchase online for $8/pack and will contain five fun LED light-up items.

How do I purchase a Sweetheart Party Pack?

Sweetheart Party Packs will only be available to purchase online. No Sweetheart Party Packs or individual items will be available to purchase at the dance.

Can I bring my own glow sticks or LED light-up items?

No. Only PTO-provided glow sticks and items in the Sweetheart Party Packs will be allowed.

Will the dance be accessible and sensory-friendly?

Absolutely! We're making every effort to ensure the Sweetheart Dance is a fun and inclusive experience for everyone. Here's how:

  • Accessible Location: The dance will be held in the Commons/Cafeteria and Gymnasium at OTMS, which are fully accessible to wheelchair, walker, and cane users.
  • Chill Out Space: The Commons/Cafeteria, which is where food will be served, will be a quieter area for attendees who need a break from the music, flashing lights, and overall hustle and bustle of the gymnasium.
  • Sensory Considerations: Feel free to bring noise-canceling headphones, sunglasses, or personal fidget items for additional comfort.

If you have any specific requests or accommodation needs, please don't hesitate to reach out to us at waysandmeans@vpepto.org. We want everyone to feel welcome and able to enjoy the dance at their own pace.
